Chemical Group: Benzoyl Urea Properties: Works through contact and ingestion. It is highly effective against all larval stages, including newly hatched larvae and advanced instars, preventing them from completing their life cycle. It affects about 25% of the eggs, preventing hatching, and also impacts pupae, resulting in deformed butterflies. It affects adult moths, preventing them from laying eggs or causing them to lay unfertilized eggs. Lufenuron works by inhibiting the formation of the chitin layer, disrupting the molting process in larvae, preventing them from progressing to the next developmental stage. As a result, the larvae stop feeding within hours, halting damage to crops, and die within two days. This is a modern chemical group with significant impact and effectiveness against insects, especially Lepidopteran larvae, which have developed resistance to carbamate, organophosphorus, pyrethroid, and other molting inhibitors.
